UFO ACTIVITY IS INCREASING AROUND THE WORLD: Reports are coming in from Europe, South America, Australia and the US of a moderate increase in activity despite solar storms. CARL SAGAN WAS AN EARLY BELIEVER IN ET In 1962, I had a sighting of a large UFO over England, so I attempted to read books that supported my beliefs in the likelihood of extraterrestrial life. A few years later in 1966, Carl Sagan co-authored an exciting book called Intelligent Life in the Universe with Russian astronomer I. S. Shklovskii. It provides extraordinary evidence and surprising scientific arguments for extraterrestrial life. Later his statements were more pessimistic, and may have reflected his desire to be politically accepted in the scientific community. Mutual friends have assured me that he felt there was life on Mars, and the whole universe may be teaming with it. Sagan discussed the amazing evidence in Sumerian writing claiming that extraterrestrial intelligence came to Earth and provided advanced education to mankind. The following quotes from Sagan and Shklovskii are pertinent now that water and possible life have been found on Mars: "With the numbers we have discussed, it seems possible that the Earth has been visited by various Galactic civilizations many times (possibly 10 [every 10,000 years], during geological time.) It is not out of the question that artifacts of these visits still exist--although none have been found to date--or even that some kind of base is maintained within the solar system to provide continuity for successive expeditions. Because of weathering and the possibility of detection and interference by the inhabitants of the Earth, it might have appeared preferable not to erect such a base on the Earth's surface. " The Moon seems one reasonable alternative site for a base. Forthcoming high-resolution photographic reconnaissance of the Moon from space vehicles--particularly, of the back side--might bear these possibilities in mind. Agrest has independently made a similar conjecture, as has the Anglo-Ceylonese science writer, Arthur C. Clarke. The cosmic visitors would probably reason that by the time man had developed the technology to explore the far side of the Moon, he would also have attained a certain limited degree of advancement and might be called civilized. Contact with such a base would, of course, provide the most direct check on the possibility of fairly frequent interstellar spaceflight. The rate of technical advance of our civilization is very great. It is possible that an extraterrestrial society or federation of such societies might want to contact an emerging technical civilization as soon as possible, perhaps to head off a nuclear annihilation - one possible consequence of intensive technological development-or perhaps for other reasons. It is not a coincidence that the Soviet Union gave up Communism and became our ally to avoid nuclear war. Further it is not generally realized that the Viking Lander tests for life on Mars were very controversial and that they were based on the false assumption of no water on Mars. Perhaps extraterrestrials live under the surface of planets or moons and are not easily seen by our satellites. It will probably surprise you to learn that genetically altered tobacco is grown 200 feet underground in greenhouses in White Pine, Michigan in an abandoned copper mine. There are advantages underground, such as no pests, no disease and warm temperatures for 365 days a year. There is not even danger from nuclear weapons or meteors. Perhaps we will only see barrem landscape until we start drilling beneath the surface. LIGHTS GLOW ON MOON Astronomers regularly report they observe various lights on the moon. French astronomer Audouin Dollfus of the Observatoire de Paris claims to have witnessed clouds of dancing lights inside the 136 km across Langrenus Crater in 1992 with a 39-inch Meudon telescope. It has taken until now to publish his findings. On 30 December, he noticed a series of glows on the floor of the large crater Langrenus. They were definitely not there the day before. Professor Dollfus observed them for several days before they faded. Each time he returned to the telescope he noticed that the shape of the glows had changed. He believes that the glows are due to escaping gas that lifts dust above the lunar surface into sunlight. Some lunar observers have expressed surprise that such a mist should have been seen above Langrenus, which was not regarded as a prime candidate for lunar changes. NEW JERSEY ORANGE DISCS LONG BEACH ISLAND -- On July 23, 2000, at approximately 11:00 PM while at a beach house on I witnessed three orange disk-like objects flying north to south over the ocean. There was no clouds in the sky and lights were grouped ahead of the other, which trailed behind. They were traveling faster than a plane could. The lights were slightly smaller than the nail on your pinky finger when your arm is held extended. They were visible for less than a minute, possibly 30 seconds, and then disappeared. While looking on the internet this afternoon I read about a similar sighting from 1997, twenty miles north of Atlantic City. If there is a documented explanation for this type of sighting I would appreciate if your could let me know. Thanks to Thomas Baudo Eyebalz ILLINOIS HUGE CRAFT ATTEMPTS TO LAND DOWNERS GROVE -- Beth Skerrett sent an e-mail stating, "I am writing to you about an occurrence outside our corporate building where I am the admin for the management office. Everything I have to say in second hand, I have not seen anything myself but, at about 8:00 PM on July 12, 2000, the security guard of our sister building called the security guard of my building and asked, "What are all those lights about?" The sister building is north of us, and the lights were apparently to the south of the building. The guard went out to the south parking lot and saw "a huge object that was trying to land in the parking lot". He said, "It was as long as eight buses, and almost as high." He said it was a dark silver/blue with a goldish strip across it, and underneath looked concave. He said, "The UFO hovered over the parking lot for almost a minute without making any sound." At that time some of our tenants came out because this object was right outside their window. Even the entire cleaning crew saw it as well. Then he said, "The object, this 'silver ball', shot up into the air and off to the west moving so fast it was hard to track." It appeared to pause over the town of Aurora, about 15 miles away for several seconds before departing. What is odd is that none of the tenants will talk, report to the police or the news media. I wonder how many things like this happen, and people just see it, and then go on their way? By coincidence I spent part of last week in Downers Grove with a beautiful view of the area, and did not see a thing. Flying home to New Jersey, I had a red UFO flying formation with us, I'm sorry to report it was a star was hiding in and out of the clouds making it look like I had company. TEXAS UFO AS BIG AS FOOTBALL FIELD GRAHAM, YOUNG COUNTY -- A friend and co-worker had a sighting northwest of Fort Worth on Thursday, July 13, 2000, at 10:28 PM. His name is Jerry Fox and he is a Corrections Officer. Both he and his wife were witness to a very large UFO hovering about 2000 feet off the ground northeast of their home. He said that he was laying on the couch watching TV when he became aware of light filling his living room. He called to his wife to go outside with him. They observed white lights, perfectly round with half-moons on the side, which would indicate that the object was round in shape. The size was as big as a football field. He jumped in his car to get a closer look, but about that time, it vanished. The next day, Jerry was visibly shaken. It had been only the day before that we had been discussing UFOs and he was clearly a skeptic, giving me sideways glances when I mentioned that I had seen several of them in years' past. Thanks to Donna J. Bullock [email protected] (Donna B.) COLORADO LONG YELLOW CYLINDER THORNTON -- I was out having a cigarette break at work on July 6, 2000. Noticing the colors at the beginning of the sunset around 8:30 PM, I noticed a bright yellow, almost white object coming out of the western sky. Knowing that this was probably the reflection of the sun on an east bound jet. It was partially cloudy, but mostly clear sky. What began to seem strange to me, was that NONE of the other passenger jets were "reflecting" the sunset. When I took a closer look this object did not have any wings visible. It traveled east in a straight line but at a slightly slower speed than the other jets who appeared to be passing it headed for Denver. All through this time, no wings were seen at all. There was no variance in the color. It maintained a bright yellow, almost white "glow". As it passed over head, I still did not see any wings, and it made no noise as it passed above the traffic on I-25 to my west. This was when I saw that the middle of the cylinder was narrower than the ends, as if it was two cylinders, that had a "docking area" that met in the middle. Thanks to Peter Davenport Director NUFORC www.ufocenter.com NEVADA UFO CAUSES FOG RED ROCK CANYON - The witness reports that on July 7, 2000, my life and saw a satellite fly over so, I said, "If we check the time, we can see it again tomorrow night." The car's clock read 9:21 PM As I looked up I saw a bright slice of light in a perfect triangle and shouted, "What the hell is that? The light was about 1/4 mile in the sky, just over the mountain closest to us about three miles in front of us. The source of the light was about 10 feet around that pointed straight down with a sharp crispness to it. It was sweeping the ground traveling from southwest to northeast coming toward us. The light swept the ground in about 1/2 mile swath. The light was sharp unlike normal lights. That is, it didn't travel past the sharp edge of the triangle shape pointing toward the ground. There was a greenish blue glow to the east of it about 60 feet from what appeared to be a craft. The glow appeared like phosphorus in the sky. All we could see of the craft was a thick blackness in an oval saucer shape. It looked as though from the bottom of the craft to the bottom edge of the light that it would be about 6 feet. The light was out over the front edge of the craft, pointing down. The blackness behind and under the light looked to be about 50 feet around with a deep saucer dropping below the craft like a belly. The light was a perfect triangle as it swept the ground. I it was not like a spot light that has an oval shape on the ground. The light was extremely bright white and we could see the ground where it was pointing as if noon day sun. The saucer seemed to be creating some kind of fog that radiated from the craft. It didn't blast away from the craft and the light left no trail in the fog it was creating. The valley behind it was glowing a bright white and we could clearly make out the shape of the mountain. The light behind the mountain appeared to be from another source and shown like white sun rays out of the valley. The light continued toward us very slowly with absolutely no sound when it got to within half of a mile of us it was gone in the blink of the eye. Five minutes after the craft left, all of Red Rock Canyon filled with fog. The phosphorus greenish blue stayed for 23 minutes and the ground where it had been appeared to show brighter. It was like the sun came out for a while. We could see the field in front of us and the side of the mountain that was behind it. This light faded as the greenish blue glow faded until it was gone. Ten minutes after the craft left, a helicopter flew over making a loud racket that made us realize that the saucer had made no noise at all. The temperature was 96. We sat there for another 1/2 hour, after all signs of it had left and the fog remained. We pulled out of our spot and drove over to the fog and it was completely gone. It took us less than 5 minutes to get to where the fog had been. Thanks to Peter Davenport NUFORC. Editor's Note: Many UFOs seem to effect the weather and visibility. We have had some cases where ponds have frozen indicating the propulsion system takes heat or produces cold air. Fog is a large mass of water vapor condensed to fine particles at or just above the earths' surface. The Puerto Rico report indicates UFOs take large quantities of water on board. The sighting in Turkey below also effected visibility. UK CROP CIRCLES David Kingston writes, "There has been an increase in UFO activity this year since the arrival of the Crop Circles in the UK. I have received many reports of "balls of light" that have appeared over fields prior to some of the formations occurring and also some that have appeared after the formations have been formed. Some fields are made by hoaxers, but when we interviewed the "hoaxers" they saw this strange phenomena while making a formation. These are not natural "Earth Lights." First, they do not have the same characteristics and second, they appear to be intelligently controlled. Last night at 9:15 PM (GMT) my wife and I were driving home on a clear evening. I noticed the sun reflecting off several aircraft, when my wife pointed out an object traveling at 3500 feet. I pulled the car off the road to watch and it was the size of my thumb nail at arm's length. It was glowing and then dimming moving far too fast for even a military plane. Suddenly it stopped in mid air, glowed extremely bright and then vanished. Thanks to David Kingston [email protected]) http://users2.50megs.com/cropcircles/index.htm OREGON DISK TUALATIN -- On June 17, 2000, under a clear sky at around 4:00 PM, I had stopped my westbound car in the left turn lane at 90th Court and Tualatin Highway, and while waiting for the signal to change, I observed a silvery disc shape in my line of sight behind the traffic signal moving southward at about 20 degrees above the horizon. The object was the size of a pencil eraser held at arm's length, and moved only 2 to 3 inches, using the same measure, when it appeared to blink out after only a short time. I am a 51-year-old welder with more than six prior sightings, some in the local area and others in the East dating back several years. WASHINGTON EVERETT -- Ted Demott wrote, "I live in Everett to the east I saw a light of multiple colors flashing on July 18, 2000. I got my telescope and looked at it on the horizon at 11:00 PM. It looked the same as it did with the naked eye. It slowly flew up and down three times and flew southwest leaving a vapor trail that could be seen by the moonlight. Then it stopped before picking up speed flying faster then any thing I have ever seen. While it was moving, the colors turned to white and dimmed. I got my camcorder but could not find it. I called 911 and they referred me to the FAA. I am a pilot so I called my weather briefer who referred me to Kenny Young 206 722-3000 who I reported it. I do not believe in UFO's but this was something that was very strange. [email protected] Ted. Thanks to Kenny Young at [email protected] and Ted Demott [email protected] PUERTO RICO SAUCER TAKES ON WATER VIEGUES -- Amidst the mysteries of a U.S. Naval base in Puerto Rico are strange reports of UFO and alien activity. Puerto Rican Ufologist Jorge Martin interviewed Angel Encarnacion, a Vieques fisherman, who said that "One night, while fishing out at sea south of the Navy's shooting range, and east of Vieques, we saw in the distance a really big and shining light. Getting closer, we saw that it a huge round saucer object with lots of lights turning on and off all around the ship." "On the bottom middle there was a really big green light, aimed at the ocean's surface," said Encarnacion. "It wasn't more than 100 feet above the ocean. What shocked me most was seeing the object absorb water from the ocean. You could actually see a big volume of water rising and entering the object. You could not see any fish or anything else in the water going up." Throughout the operation, he said, there was no sound. He and his crew saw strange activity on another night, "a shiny green light rose from the bottom of the ocean," and suddenly disappeared as they heard "the sound of water falling into the ocean nearby," but with no object in sight. They heard--but did not see- something rising in the night sky. Several teenage marine cadets reported seeing "some very strange little dark men who were very fast and ran speedily from one place to another." The entities were no more than four feet high, skinny, with long arms and large, egg-shaped heads. They spotted them jumping into the lagoon and disappearing under the water. The cadets claimed they have seen blue-white spheres that vary in size, from four to eight inches in diameter entering the lagoon. Thanks to UFO Roundup www.ufoinfo.com. and Sally Suddock [email protected] VENEZUELA SPECTACULAR SIGHTING FILMED CARACAS - On Saturday, July 22, 2000, an object of considerable size, nearly transparent (given the volume of light it is emitting) was filmed starting at 18:28 PM for more than thirty minutes. It appears silvery in color, with a wide upper dome and a fin on its lower hull shaped like an inverted cone. A compass reading places it between 300 and 305 degrees, located to the left of Simon Bolivar University but above Fuerte Tiuna. Using the clouds as a screen, whose luminosity is hard to observe without wearing dark glasses. It is hovering with an almost imperceptible balancing motion, but one would say it is completely motionless. More information to come. Thanks to the Institute of Hispanic Ufology and Martha Rosenthal in Venezuela UNITED KINGDOM" BEST EVER UFO FILM" CAPTURED CHESHIRE -- Philip Mantle reports that Researchers at the Cheshire- based British UFO Studies Centre (BUFOSC), have been shocked by the emergence of a new and remarkable video film of an anomalous object captured by a Northwich man on Sunday afternoon, July 9, 2000. The man saw the strange object in the sky at around 2:00 PM and asked his wife to bring his video camera. He was able to capture what experts at the BUFOSC say is the "best ever UFO film." The witness also recorded traffic using his frequency scanner which clearly indicates the presence of civilian passenger aircraft in the immediate vicinity at that time. There is a suggestion that aircraft may have been diverted away from the area. BUFOSC believes that this raises urgent issues relating incident over nearby Stoke-on-Trent, where witnesses report seeing a UFO being chased by three aircraft and a Chinook helicopter. There are a number of major military exercises currently underway in the UK. Eric Morris - BUFOSC Director - and Tim Matthews, well- known researcher have both been amazed by the quality of the images, the clarity of the material and the object itself. "The best-known case was the Manchester Near-Miss in January 1995, when two airline pilots made an official report to the Civil Aviation Authority about a wedge- shaped object that shot past their plane while on approach to Manchester International. Morris, Matthews and Pope, are assisting BUFOSC with its inquiries, all believe that UFOs are of Extreme Defense Significance. The UFO is similar to ones captured on film at the Nellis Test Range, home to Area 51 in the Nevada Desert. [email protected] UK SIGHTINGS MILTON KEYNES -- A Mr. (name on file) observed a white- coloured round object at high altitude on the of July 17, 2000, at around 2.45 pm. The witness in watched the object speed across the sky, leaving no vapour trail, in just 5 seconds. His father observed the object as well which was lost from view when it went behind some clouds. Mr. NB (name on file) watched 15 light colored objects in formation on Sunday June 18, from his home near Kettering in Northamptonshire. He was having a barbecue with several family member between 6 and 7 PM when the sighting took place. All those present also observed the objects. Mr. NB is an experienced glider pilot. It was an average year (1998 was quiet with 34 reports). As usual there were a couple of hundred UFO related articles in newspapers and magazines. Of the 100 cases about 20 came from central Finland around November 13,and 14, 1999. Multiple witnesses reported 6 balls of light that flew in formation over central Finland. On the internet there were stories about an encounter between a UFO and a Finnish air force jet. But that story has never been confirmed and is likely false information. Have a nice summer! Moving north a light was switching on and off. When it changed the direction of travel, it would switch off after it started in the new direction and come back on when it was about to change course. The stops were at approximately the same distance from one another. It changed direction about every five degrees. I am sure it was not a satellite as the path was not smooth but changed very abruptly each time and it was switching on and off. Nine years ago, at about 11:00 local time (UTC+1hour) I happened to glance up and saw a cigar shaped object which was about 1500-2000 meters up, traveling in a north direction. The object was grayish, had no wings, fins or stabilizers like rockets, but simply looked like a cigar traveling without any visible sign of any propulsion system or noise and with no fire, fumes or vapor trails Its hard to estimate its size, but it appeared to be very big and I would say it was more than 80 meters long and 18 meters in diameter. The island of Malta is about 95 km south of Sicily. Thanks to Giuliano Marinkovicc - Jimmy (AGETI_ Croatia, [email protected] TURKEY UFO RESIDUE COVERS CAR MARMARA SEA -- Oz Seydali writes, "On the night of July 8, 2000, my family and I encountered a UFO 15 kilometers from Ezen while driving to Vakifkoy in Northwestern Turkey. We were on vacation on the Marmara Sea when we saw a UFO hovering over farm land about five kilometers from our car. We approached the UFO that was about the same size of the full moon and enveloped by its own light from the bottom up. Suddenly, it flashed a bright blue burst of light emanating from the bottom portion that extended to the top and disappeared. After this happened the stars were not visible for about three seconds. Ten minutes after the event a residue of some kind completely covered our car and I was forced to bring the vehicle to a complete emergency stop. The windows were rolled down but, there was no smell just a strange residue that evaporated without a trace in a few seconds as if it were never there. After arriving to our destination. I asked a local neighbor if she had seen anything odd in the sky? She said, "She had indeed and asked if I knew what it was?" There was a lot of confusion as to what had transpired since most of the people did have a clear view. They had seen the bright illumination which baffled them. The area was experiencing extreme dry heat and the craft left moisture on the dry grass and dirt. In the car with me were my mother and six family members saw the craft. Thanks to Oz Seydali [email protected] . AUSTRALIA US ORANGE FIREBALLS N.S.W - Australia, the National Reporting Center and Eastern MUFON have been receiving reports of fireballs in recent weeks. According to Barry Taylor a spectacular fireball was seen over Australia on July 16, 2000. Peter Davenport reports that NUFORC received a report Monday morning of an orange fireball, which was seen over Northern California at about 10:00 PM on Sunday night, July 16, 2000. Peter writes, "I have no way of knowing whether there is any relationship between the US and Australian events but. NUFORC has been receiving a significantly large volume of reports than is normal for us." Underscoring the apparently real nature of some of the reports is the fact that two seasoned UFO investigators in Glendale, Arizona, succeeded in videotaping on both July 12 and 13 a very strange, strobing red light in the vicinity of Phoenix. They were able to photograph it from two vantage points simultaneously, and preliminary estimates suggest that the object was on the order of 40-50 statute miles from their location, even though it could be seen plainly with the naked eye. Yesterday, we received a report from a woman in Texas, who asserts that she and other witnesses observed 6 or 7 red lights streaking to the west over Texas on July 12, just a few minutes before the sighting over Phoenix.
